  • Content and purpose
    Cultural understanding contains organizational and company culture as well as cultural challenges. In addition, the subject element contains the internationalization process, when the company's customers (B2B) have to establish themselves and do business in a foreign market.

    • has knowledge of companies' practices and applied theory and method within cultural understanding and corporate culture
    • has an understanding of corporate practice, applied theory and method, and can reflect upon corporate practice and the application of theory and method within cultural understanding, corporate culture and internationalization

    The student
    • can use the methods and tools of the subject area and must master the skills linked to employment within the profession of finance in relation to cultural understanding and company culture
    • can assess practical and theoretical cultural and internationalization issues as well as justify and choose relevant solution models
    • can communicate practical and professional culture and internationalization issues and solutions to customers, partners and users

    • can handle complex and development-oriented situations in work or study contexts in relation to cultural understanding

    The learning objectives for the exam are identical to the learning objectives of the courses

    Prerequisites for access to the examination
    The student must obtain approval of the semester's exam prerequisites, as described with content and deadlines on Moodle.

    Exam in English based on a drawn question (on the exam day) within the curriculum of the 3 courses – Marketing, Cultural Understanding and Organisation.

    At the oral exam the student must:
    1. Present a 5-6 minutes structured presentation based on the question(s) drawn before preparation. The presentation must include models/frameworks/theories from one or more of the three courses Organisation, Cultural Understanding and Marketing - depending on the drawn question(s).
    2. Show analytic understanding of the models/frameworks used during the individual presentation
    3. Give clear conclusions/recommendations based on the analyzes
    4. Be prepared to answer critical questions (8-10 minutes) based on the individual presentation and questions within the curriculum of the 3 courses.

    Aids
    All aids are permitted. However, only handwritten notes are permitted for the examination. This also applies for the presentation.

    Criteria for test assessment
    Evaluation and grading on the 7-point grade scale is done in agreement between the two examiners based on an overall assessment of the presentation and the following discussion.
    The evaluation and grade is solely based on the oral examination.

    Re-examination and re-examination due to illness
    The same rules apply as for the ordinary exam.
    If the student does not pass the regular exam, he/she will automatically be registered for a re-exam. There are a total of 3 attempts to pass the exam.

    In the case of absent students, the exam will be brought forward by up to 60 minutes. Students must therefore arrive for the exam no later than 60 minutes before the exam time. The first two students must both arrive at the start of the exam.

    The student will receive a notification on their student email when the exam has been created in WISEflow.
