Business intelligence

This elective course is designed to provide the students with working knowledge and hands-on experience in the field of Business Intelligence (BI). It is focused on teaching the students how to leverage their programming skills to create software applications for collecting, analysing, and visualizing data for business insights. Emphasis will be placed on applying modern methods and algorithms from the Artificial Intelligence (AI) for developing real-world applications as practical exercises reinforcing the theoretical concepts.
The graduate students would be able to join a successful professional career in the emerging data-driven business as data engineers, data scientists, BI developers and consultants, as well as to quick and easy continue their education in the related areas either as bachelor degree students or self-learners.

The graduate will:

- Understand the role and the relevance of data, data analytics, and data visualisation in digital business and decision-support systems.
- Get familiar with common BI terminology and selected chapters of the grounding data science.
- Learn how to explain and to compare the standard BI technologies and solutions, as well as the immerging AI trends in the area, which involve novel development environments and visual communication platforms. The graduate will be able to

- Contribute to a company management by recommending, developing, and implementing appropriate BI software solutions.
- Identify the business opportunities for implementing AI in BI and decision-making process.
- Create, visualise, interpret, and effectively communicate BI and AI models and solutions. The graduate will know how to:

- Develop skills in applying various data ingestion methods and tools.
- Integrate various software technologies into advanced BI platform.
- Implement various visualisation techniques for immersive analytics.
- Develop programming skills in Python for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
- Develop communication skills in collaborating with non-technical business users.
